Did you know 1 in 5 new moms and 1 in 10 new dads are diagnosed with a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder like depression, anxiety, or OCD?
Our Workplace Perinatal Mental Health (W-PMH) Screening is a simple, free, confidential tool to help you check in on how you’re feeling throughout your 3 phase parental leave transition.
No cost · Confidential · Takes less than 5 minutes · Available in English, French & Spanish
This screening is not a diagnostic tool.
We’re incredibly proud to have created the first perinatal mental health screening to be used in a workplace setting, because who ever thought getting screened one time at the 6 week post-partum visit was enough?!
It takes less than 5 minutes and can be taken as often as you’d like. There’s no right or wrong way to use it.

Some people take it at each transition touchpoint as a routine check-in.

Others use it whenever something feels off. Both are valid.
The goal is simply to help you stay aware of how you’re doing and connect you to help if needed. Because in the middle of one of life’s biggest transitions, that’s easier said than done.

Built on the most widely used clinically validated tool. Brought into the context of your workplace parental leave transition.
Developed by CPLL in partnership with PSI, the screening includes 10 questions based on the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), a clinically validated tool with a well-established history of use and translation into over 60 languages worldwide. The goal is to help you stay aware of how you’re feeling throughout your 3 Phase transition and if needed, connect you with resources and support as early as possible. The W-PMH screening gives everyone an easy way to check in and watch for changes over time.

Perinatal Mental Heath screening isn’t just for birthing moms.
While the EPDS was originally developed for birthing moms, perinatal mental health concerns can affect all parents, including adoptive parents, foster parents, dads, and non-birthing partners. This screening is a useful tool regardless of how a child enters your family, which parent you are, and regardless of where you are in your transition.

Check in regularly. Watch for change over time.
Take the screening at key transition points throughout your parental leave journey — before, during, and after your leave. Or check in monthly, from before your child arrives through the first year postpartum, or longer during extended breastfeeding.

A single check-in tells you how you’re doing today. Checking in over time tells you how you’re trending — and that’s where this tool becomes genuinely useful.
Patterns matter. Early awareness matters. You don’t have to wait until something feels seriously wrong to pay attention to how you’re doing.
Simple, immediate, and yours alone.
Your score will be immediately available upon completion, along with guidance on how to interpret it. If follow-up care may be helpful, your report will include resources to help you take that next step at whatever pace feels right for you.

Your answers are never shared. Not with your employer. Not with your manager.
A note for managers, supervisors, leave navigators, and HR professionals.
If you have a team member navigating a parental leave transition, you can proactively share the W-PMH Screening link with them. It’s one of many reasons to encourage them to use the RETAIN Coaching Hub throughout all three phases of their leave.
You don’t need to take the screening yourself, but knowing it exists means you can mention it early on and help reduce mental health stigma by normalizing regular check-ins as part of the parenting journey, not a sign that something has gone wrong.
